What Causes Pain In The Legs After Taking Losartan?

I am on 50 mg of losartan. I was put on this med in February after having stints put in & starting in about april I started having extreme pain in both legs resembling tendonitis. I have quit taking statins in the last three weeks but still have pain, though not as severe. Now I m wondering if the losartan could be responsible. Thank you, Bill Seaton

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a side effect of losartan use.

I suggest using muscle relaxant medication such as Baclofen for leg pain.

I also suggest using warm compresses.

If the symptoms continue I suggest consulting your doctor about an alternative medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
