Pain in the legs for a long time and causing the muscles to get thinner may indicate an important condition of the muscles or of the nerves or blood vessels that feed the muscles. I would recommend you to have some tests to better determine which is the exact cause of the pain: - NCT and EMG - Doppler ultrasound examination of the legs - a good physical examination, including a neurological exam, is necessary as well. - blood tests such as TSH, basic metabolic profile, Creatine Kinase, etc.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
