Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having left lower side abdomen pain and back pain 2 months ago, it went away about 1 month ago and then came back. I have had ultrasound and CT scan, all come back normal. The only thing is red blood cell is above normal in urine test. My doctor now insists me to remove IUD to see if it will help since it was placed 10 years ago. Do you really think it is IUD caused my pain?
As you have blood in your urine, it may reflect a urinary infection. Urinary culture is indicated in such a case followed by an appropriate antibiotic course, IUCD may cause an abdominal and back pain.
As most of the causes like colitis, jejunitis, kidney stone, kidney swelling, gut inflammation and infection has been ruled out, the removal of IUCD can be given a chance. It can always be reinserted.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
