What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen During Pregnancy?

I just found out I am about 3 weeks pregnant. This is my first pregnancy, so I have no idea what is normal . I have having lower abdominal pain, sort of like period cramps but they more localized to the right side. Is this normal? ER stated they can t see anything on an ultrasound because it s too early in the pregnancy.

Hello,

Consult a gynecologist and plan for an ultrasound. We have to rule out possible causes like ectopic pregnancy or threatened abortion. As of now take absolute bed rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
