What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side?

Hello: I am a 69 year old female in generally good health. I have had for past 24 hours a sharp pain in my lower left abdomen. I do not have IBS or Diverticulitis (had a colonoscopy and endoscopy for gall bladder surgery within past 6 months. This is quite painful. Bowel movement is normal. Not sure if this is gas or some other more serious issue.

Hello,

Possible causes are like left ureteric caliculi or colitis or left ovarian torson or diverticulitis or sigmoid volvulus etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Please get it done ultrasound abdomen and pelvis then consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
