What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side?

Had radical nephractomy surgery last year----12. Months ago. My left kidney was removed.recentley the last 2 weeks I have been getting pain on the left side that feels like a kidney stone. Or at least just like I used to get in years past when passing stones. However is that possible on my left side since I don t have a kidney there. Also had a scan done about 6 weeks ago that showed nothing.the pain is below ribs and out my back. When sitting or lying down. Not as bad when walking. No bleeding in urine.

Hi,

As your kidney has been removed there is no question of developing a kidney stone on that side. However it may just be a ureteric colic which is causing pain in your renal angle. You best go for a urine microscopic and routine examination which shall help diagnose the real problem as your scan has come out normal. Meanwhile you can take some diuretics to ease out the discomfort, take plenty of fluid along.

Hope that helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks,
