What Causes Pain In The Lower Abdomen On The Left Side?

Hi, I m a 56 year old female and have a had a pesky slight pain in my mid to lower left abdomen for two weeks. (Just scheduled a doctor s appointment for next week). The pain is mainly in the lower left abdomen, and I initially noticed it when sleeping--I always sleep on my left side or back, and I had to switch to my right side last week for it to be comfortable. Sleeping has improved, but still feel the pesky feeling. At first I thought it was a pulled muscle, but almost feels like my left ovary. (No other symptoms, basically feel fine otherwise :) )

Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an ovarian cyst.

An ultrasound is necessary to confirm the diagnosis.

Meanwhile, you can take anti-inflammatory medication to treat the pain such as Ibuprofen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
