What Causes Pain In The Lower Back During Pregnancy?

38 weeks pregnant (second child). Contractions (menstrual like cramping and lower back pain) at even 10 minute intervals for the past hour and a half and getting stronger but not noticeably closer together. Went in last night to labor and delivery and was 100% effaced and 2cm dilated. Do I wait for contractions to get closer or go in now?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Though there is no strict protocol for when to go in hospital for delivery, it is advisable to go to a hospital when you are in active stage of labour, i.e. when you get uterine contractions that last for 40-60 seconds and are 4-5 minutes apart.
Go to the hospital immediately if you have serious symptoms like, heavy bleeding, seizures, contractions not progressing even after 12 hours of onset or actually decreasing in intensity and frequency.
