I have had lower back pain for many years. Back in the lat 70s I had been examined by an Spors med Neurogolist . He called for an exray which he showed me. k It indicated that The cushioning brtween the 4th and 5th lumbar was shrinking. This has continued to be an issue for the last thirty years. Is there any type of medication I can take for the pain?

Hi,

Thanks for your question on HCM
I do understand your pain and discomforts

As per your clinical history is concerned your back pain is due to your disc so there are many drugs which we prescribe to patients like ibuprofen for mild and oxycodone for severe cases, gabapentin for nerve damage.sometimes cortisone injection are given for pain and inflammation. So talk to your physiotherapist and he will show you which exercise is good for you.“If” conservative method fails then surgical option can be considered.

Hope that helps
