What Causes Pain In The Lower Back?

Yes sir, my wife said everything was fine and then all of a sudden, she was standing still when she felt a sharp pain in her lower back, then a weird sensation of being wrapped in a blanket, she started to cry uncontrollably and called me. I was at work but rushed home immediately. Upon arrival she seemed better, but visibly shaken? Pain has subsided but still present with moderate body twitching. Medical history normal, no drugs, alcohol, or tobacco. Recently diagnosed with possible disc issues: L4, L5, & S1 She is scheduled for an MRI next Tuesday. Please advise.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

Since she is having lower spine issues, possibility of nerve root compression is more likely for her sharp pain, feeling of wrapped and body twitching symptoms. So MRI of the lower spine is must. If nerve root compression is severe then surgical correction is needed. But if nerve root compression is mild then weight reduction, physiotherapy etc. are needed.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
