Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has intense pain in the lower left gum line. He saw the dentist yesterday. Nothing was detected in an x-ray and an infection is suspected. Has taken a full days dose of an antiobiotic and is taking Tylenol. The pain subsided during the day today but is back now (evening) and very intense. Suggestions to relieve the pain? Did try Ambesol without any change. Thank you
Gum pain can either be due to deep gum infection or there is also a possibility that there is something stuck deep into the gums causing inflammation and pain.. If pain is localised then it can be due to any fractured tooth or its root that can be missed in x ray.. For now he should take higher painkillers like Ketorolac or Tramadol for pain relief.. Consult a Periodontist who is a gum specialist so that exact cause can be diagnosed and treated accordingly.. If it is due to gum infection then deep scaling and curettage can help.. Along with it do antiseptic mouthwash gargles and warm saline gargles can help..
Regards..
