What Causes Pain In The Lower Legs?

I have a 21 year old daughter that has been complaining of the leg bone below the knee hurting. It starts with a stinging pain and then is a dull ache . She has has substantial blood work and shows nothing. Dr suggests a bone scan. What is your advice and what are probable causes

Hello,

For this leg pain, few investigations are needed for primary work up.
• X-ray local part
• Doppler ultrasound if needed to rule out peripheral vascular disease
• Neurological examination
• Serum random blood sugar for diabetes
• Serum B12 estimation

According to the cause identified specific treatment is given. Bone scan is advanced investigation done if no cause identified by other work-up. Consult physician for examination and further work-up accordingly.
