What Causes Pain In The Lower Uterine Segment While On IUD?

I ve had my IUD since March 2016 (so this year) and have had occasional pain. But recently the pain has flared up more then normal, and today it s been pulsating. Typically in my experience pulsating is associated with infections. I work nights so getting to the gynecologist is difficult unless it s completely nessecary. I m not to sure how to react or what to do. It hurts and was causing me to sweat a little bit earlier. Any idea? I have Merina.

Hello,

Any pain while having IUD warrants a visit to have a gynecological visit. IUD is generally well tolerated but in some cases, complications may happen. Infection is a possible cause and should be ruled out.

The gynecological visit and the transvaginal ultrasound will also determine if there are other causes of the pain and guide further management.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
