What Causes Pain In The Medial Malleolus When I Put Weight On It?

My left medial malleolus is painful to the touch, and causes pain when I put weight on it. Details: -- Pain is notable when resting in bed, medium (3-4 of 10) -- Then pain then is high (7-8 of 10) when first put weight on it, but -- Then subsides (to 1-2 of 10) after subsequent walking. -- Cause of pain seems less when I stiffen the ankle while walking. This is Monday 7 a.m.: -- Pain noticed early a.m. Sunday. -- Pain subsided as I walked about during Sunday -- I had no event (fall, trauma, etc.) that I know of that can have injured this bone. -- I ve had no warning symptoms prior to the Sunday morning onset. I am fit (BMI 24.5), do strength exercises three times a week (including leg and foot exercises), and take 2 miles walks three times a day at 3 mph.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
It could be a contusion and associated pain.
As of now you can use analgesics/anti inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/seratiopeptdase for symptomatic relief.
You can also apply icepacks for the same.
If symptoms persists better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated.
Wishing all the best.
Thanks
