General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If the neck and back pain is affected by touch and by movements of the head or arms then very likely this pain is muscular in nature, it is not dangerous but may need some local warm compresses and pain killers (paracetamol and ibuprofen) to help with it.

If the pain is not affected by touch or movement then a heart problem should be first ruled out as in these cases heart pain can spread in the neck and in the back and also can cause irregular heart rhythm. An ECG is needed in this case and a good visit with a cardiologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
