What Causes Pain In The Neck Muscle After Receiving Prolia Injection?

I had a Prolia injection given on my upper left arm, on Tuesday. I started having rather uncomfortable muscle pain on the left side of my neck a few hours later. It hasn t gone away, nor has it improved that much. I ve been trying to figure out what I have done that could have contributed to this pain, and can t think of anything. I just looked up side effects to Prolia, and it does mention muscle pain. What, if anything, do I do?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Soreness at the injection site and muscle pain with Prolia are a common side effect. If the pain or soreness are accompanied by fever or chills, abdominal pain, burning and pain during urination, ear pain or pinkish urine then I recommend you to immediately see a doctor. Otherwise, using an ice pack on the painful area and taking paracetamol or ibuprofen will bring you relief and eventually resolution of the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you good health and all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Ornela Ademovi
