What Causes Pain In The Pelvic Area?

Hi I am experiencing terrible pain in my hips had ultra sound and xray bones are normal but xray showed surgical matter in pelvis area I am going for an mri but the doctor said this surgical matter could be a clamp would a doctor tell you there is a clamp there after having surgery and could this be causing my pain.
