What Causes Pain In The Rib Cage On The Right Side?

I m having pain in my right side about halfway up the rib cage it feels like somebody s reaching in and twisting and trying to pull my guts out through my rib cage its a sharp pain it lasts a few minutes then eases up sum and im extremely nauseated what do you think it could be

Get an ultrasound abdomen to rule out liver pathology. Take lab tests as serum bilirubin, sgot, sgpt.
