What Causes Pain In The Ribcage While Breathing?

I have severe pain in left lower chest rib area that also hurts when I breathe, with no other symptoms. Was treated in the ER early Thursday morning. Diagnosed with pneumonia and was given rocephin antibiotics by IV & morphinr & sent home with a Zpack. Ive taken 2 doses (2 pills & then 1 pill) and have 3 more doses to take. The pain is still severe. Could it be something else? Shouldn t I have a little relief by now? Thanks much

have to consult pumunologist and x-ray pa view lungs to rule out obstructive disease.inthat case bronchodialater can be added.take view of physician for deciding antibiotic if diagnosis of pnemonea is confirmed. however penicillin is the drug of choice.
