What Causes Pain In The Ribs After An Injury?

I m a 26yo female and I had a zip line accident last year. I broke 6 ribs, 2 vertebras and had a punctured lung. Its been a year and I m still in quite a bit of pain. The scans indicate the ribs are healed and my doctor doesn t know why I m having pain, is there something else that could be going on?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
After such injury it is not uncommon to have chronic pain at sites of fracture for many years after. This happens due to prolonged healing or formation of pseudoarthrosis. You need to do bone scintigraphy for a start and also visit physical therapist and have exercises and physical therapy that he recommends. swimming may be beneficial as well. Standard nonsteroid painkillers are usually enough for pain management.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
