What Causes Pain In The Right Ankle?

My daughter has been having pain in her right ankle. It is swollen and there is a hard lump just below the ankle bone. She doesn t remember injuring it and someone suggested it might be gout. It is not discolored at all, but is quite painful. Does gout affect ankles too?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Gout can affect ankles but its not as prevalent in ankle as it is in big toe joint. The fact that there is hard lump suggest some type of mass, I would recommend getting an x-ray first before offering any specific treatments.
