What Causes Pain In The Right Arm Upon Straightening It?
Hello. For the past week, my rightarm has had slight pain when I straighten it out and reach for something, almost like the muscle was stretching to the breaking point. Today my arm started hurting more and I can t straighten it out completely, I d say I can straighten to only about 145 degrees. From about 2 above the crook of my elbow down to my wrist it has been tender to touch for the past couple days. Tonight a red line has appeared that is about the width of my pinky finger. The line is running from my wrist to the crook of my elbow. The line is not raised, but it is tender to touch. (Not terribly painful, but very tender.) It doesn t seem warm to the touch.
The symptoms seem to be related to a muscle strain. I suggest using anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day. I also suggest using Voltaren gel for local application. Gentle stretching exercises can also be helpful in relieving the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
