What Causes Pain In The Right Hip And Leg?

Saturday morning, around 7:30am getting ready to get off work. I was pushing a shopping basket to the backroom. When my right hip and leg started to hurt. I had to stop and wait for the pain to stop. I took it easy Sunday afternoon when I woke up around 2pm. I went in to work at 11:30pm, I was ok until 1am. I felt the pain in my hip and leg. The rest of the time until I left work (4:30am) I was hurting and tried not to over do it. I m 61 years old and I fell last August while hiking. right now, I m see a doctor for my neck and arm.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to sciatica pain. Some advice that I can give to you is:

-Use noninflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three times a day
-use the anti-inflammatory cream for local application
-use ice compresses

If the symptoms continue you should consult a neurologist for further evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
