What Causes Pain In The Shoulder After Insertion Of A Cardiac Stent?

Hi! I had a stent put in a heart artery 4 weeks ago. I have had a dull ache in my upper left shoulder with a pins feel in my hand occasionally. I just woke up laying on my back and both arms felt like they were asleep. Do I need to go to the emergency room?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The shoulder tip pain is referred pain via various possible mechanics, as both arms are feeling asleep, cardiac cause is less likely.

I recommend to talk with your physician office before proceeding to ER visit.

Wish you fine recovery and health.

Regards.
