What Causes Pain In The Shoulder Blade Radiating To The Back?

Yes, my husband is 57 years old and under a tremendous amount of stress right now. He woke in the middle of the night with this pain in his back under his left shoulder blade and radiates down the middle of his back. He has no prior history of heart trouble. Is it possible that he has just slept wrong?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It might be due to tendon or ligament injury like in rotator cuff related condition.

You can consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan. As the first line of management, you can take analgesics like Diclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
