What Causes Pain In The Shoulder While Breathing?

Shoulder pain from breathing I believe, what could be the cause? I also burp sometimes and it hurts a little more but the pain would not go away. I feel it less now but I still feel the pain in the top of my shoulder is this something I should worry about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you are having shoulder pain while breathing you need to get physically examined by a GP or orthopedics.

Medical conditions like frozen shoulder, torn rotator cuff/cartilage, pinched nerve, injury or broken shoulder.

In the meantime you can take analgesic or NSAIDS for relief. Stretch exercises & single range of motion exercises relieves pain.

You can take the help of an occupation or physiotherapist. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
