Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I ve had pain in the front of my left thigh, between my hip and inner thigh. The pain is dull and runs down my leg to the back of my knee and to my ankle. The pain throbs sometimes but not continually. It also looks like I may have a varicose vein in that area too, really blue vein. This really hurts when I sit for 30 minutes to an hour in a chair that cuts in the back of my leg or knee. I ve been sitting for 6-7 hours, 3 days a week, for the past 2 weeks while my husband is having dialysis. Tonight, it hurts when I put pressure on my leg while walking. Any idea what this could be?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, possibility of nerve compression related pain is more likely. Your pain is associated with sitting posture. So lumber spine can be compress nerve root in your this position and cause similar kind of pain. So sit with proper back support. Avoid movements causing pain. Apply warm warm water pad on affected areas. Loose weight if you are obese. Take simple painkiller like paracetamol or ibuprofen. If not improving with all these then consult orthopedic doctor. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
