What Causes Pain In The Throat And Fever?

Hi, from two days I am feeling pain in my throat and associated fever too. As of its an open wound. Body feels very weak too. The pain is only on the right side of tonsils. What concerns me is an incident where I had a fish bone stuck on my throat three weeks back. The pain that time was also the same location. Eventually I felt it went away after 2-3 days. Can it still cause a problem after 3 weeks. How should I take care of it. Or rather diagnose the problem.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As the pain of the injury in the throat was subsided after 2-3 days and you had symptomless 3 weeks, the pain you have right now does not seem to be related with that incident. It seems that you are having bacterial tonsillitis that is causing pain, swelling, fever, weakness and other symptoms.

I recommend that you should start treatment with antibiotics. You can take Azithromycin 500 mg (Azee 500) once a day for 3 days. For relief in pain, fever and other symptoms you can take Acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg thrice in a day. You can also do warm salt water gargles and use decongestants to have relief in throat.

If the pain is not resolved in 3 days, you should consult a physician or ENT specialist for clinical examination, necessary investigations and treatment.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
