What Causes Pain In The Throat Immediately After Eating Apples?

I never used to have a problem eating apples, but recently right after I eat a fresh apple my throat hurts and later on hurts even more when I swallow. After it stopped I was curious whether it was the apple or just a cold, and the same thing happened. Am I allergic? (If they are baked I don t seem to have a problem)

Hello,
You may have some seasonal dryness that makes your throat tissue sensitive. Keep well hydrated. Avoid irritants that can be harsh on your throat such as smoking, alcohol, acidic and spicy foods. Consider a humidifier if you have dry heat in your home. Take some vitamin B12 and maintain a proper balanced diet without deficiencies. Warm salt water rinses may soothe and promote healing.
A cold or respiratory inflammation can be a definite cause. Monitor for worsening symptoms and seek professional care for further diagnosis and prescriptions if necessary.
You can try some Antiinflammitory medication, longezes or cough suppressants. Antihistamines such as Benadryl would help with an allergic type reaction.
Conditions such as acid reflux can damage your throat and certain foods may react. Fruits can be acidic while healthy. Presetvatives can be found on fruits. Wash well.
