The tongue in my mouth hurts constantly all day long. I am able to sleep at night time. I m going thru menopause at age 47. I can eat just fine but it seems like it doesn t matter what I eat my tongue always seems to start burning in the middle of the tongue.
It looks like burning sensation in the middle of tongue, no matter if you eat or not can be due to a condition known as Burning Mouth Syndrome..
Burning tongue/mouth syndrome is a condition in which there is burning sensation inside mouth and can also be associated with a scalded feeling and can also experience numbing sensation..
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and investigations like blood tests can be advised..
Treatment of underlying cause will resolve the symptoms..
As of now to get relieved you can start gargling with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.. Specialised mouthwash like Magic Mouthwash can also help. Take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Avoid spicy foods and take a soft bland diet.. Suck ice pops..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
