What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen And Vomiting?

My wife has been unable to eat for the last 5 days, and has been experiencing constant upper quadrant pain, as well as occasional vomiting. Her pain level is always 5 on a 1-10 scale, sometimes increasing to 7 or 8. She has managed to hold down fluids such as Ginger ale and water, but not much else. In th past, she has had surgery for a hysterectomy, a hernia repair and a bowel reconstruction. Any thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. As per your history is concerned please follow:

1) Do Stool and Urine exam [RE/ME] for infection

2) Do an ultrasound exam and LFT to ruled out Gall bladder stone

3) Do CBC with differential. Add [OMIDOM once a day] for nausea and vomiting

I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
