What Causes Pain In The Upper Abdomen?

I m having pain in my upper gastric area, beneath my breastbone, a feeling like I haven t eaten in days. Acute, today is the first time. I haven t pulled a muscle & don t have heartburn. The pain is not sharp but intensifies if I breathe deeply. I ve never experienced this or even heard a symptom like this. Any clue what s wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to gastritis which is an inflammation of the stomach lining.

I suggest using antacids such as Maalox.

I also recommend using PPI medication such as Omeprazole.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
