What Causes Pain In The Upper Back After A Whiplash Injury?
think I got whiplashed a few months ago.......since then had upper spine and neck pain especially mid neck and slightly to the right....dull achy pain, this sometimes ends up towards the shoulder...recently have been getting pins and needles down the right arm towards the hand this is now happening several times a day.
Whip lash injury occurs due to sudden jerky movement of the neck. It can cause injury to muscle, nerve, cervical disc etc. The symptoms of pins and needles indicate nerve injury/ compression. MRI scan of neck and nerve conduction study is required to confirm the diagnosis. Meanwhile, take rest, apply heat and take Advil to help with pain. Once the diagnosis is confirmed Physical therapy can help with the symptoms.
Please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider for further evaluation and management
