What Causes Pain In The Upper Back Along With Nausea?

having pain in upper back on left side that wraps around to front. It was pretty strong for a while, but less now. Some nausea and numbness of left arm, up into face. Some pain in neck on left side. Took tums, then omeprazole, then tylenol, then peptobismal. What do you think?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Pain in upper back, left side that wraps around to front, which is less now associated with nausea and numbness of left arm up to face could be due to 2 reasons:
1. cardiovascular event
2. muscular skeletal pain due to vertebral spine issues

I advise to go to ER to rule out cardiovascular event which is more serious than other diagnosis first.

Then, to get treated adequately (prescription medicines might be required).

Hope this helps.
