What Causes Pain In The Upper Shoulder?

Hi, I ve been having right upper back/shoulder pain since August 23rd. I ve been to a ortho urgent care and the doctor injected the back of my shoulder, no relief. Went to a ortho doctor and he put me on a medrol dose pack and flexeril, pain is still there. Do you know what could be causing this or any suggestions? I m in a lot of pain, it feels like spasms and is constant.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in HCM

Pain in shoulder could be due to rotator cuff tendinitis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, polymyalgia rheumatica. If you have not taken a Xray yet, I would suggest you to get it done to look for any signs of joint inflammation. If you are engaged in any activity that requires strain over that part of the shoulder, it would be at your best interest to restrict your activity for a while.
Hope this helps.
