What Causes Pain In Throat Inspite Of Taking Azithromycin For Tonsillitis?

Dear Sirs, I had tonsillitis and fever, about a week ago. Since, I am a seaman, we do not have much choice, except for the on-board medicines we have, so I started taking AZITHROMYCIN 150 mg, thrice daily, for four days,though the fever seems to have gone in next two days, I still have pain in my throat, right side, seems tonsillitis and also for the last two days, I am also feeling little feverish at night. As we have the following medicines on-board,CIFRAN CT (Ciprofloxacin 500mg and Tinidazole 600mg) tablets and O2 (ofloxacin 200mg and Ornidazole 500mg) and Citrazin. I seek your kind advice at the earliest.With regards,Pankaj Gulani 29 Yrs old.

Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
By the description you have given, it appears that your infection has responded to antibiotics Azithromycin and has reduced in severity. Kundly complete the course.
Since you have limited drugs on board, you need to take Tablet. Cetrizine once a day for 5 days. It would have been better if you would have had a decongestant syrup with Ambroxyl composition. Kindly do salt water gargling with warm water 3 times a day for 5 days.
That should help you to get relieved from your throat pain and other symptoms.
