What Causes Pain In Thumb Nail With History Of Cervical Spondylosis?
hello sir, I m 58 years.&I m having pain in the left thumb. The pain is on nail side to the left corner, though I m patient of cervical spondilysis. I do have pain in my both hand.but this is new development Kindly suggest please B S Oberoi Indore MP India
Regarding your concern, your symptoms do not seem to be related to the cervical spondylosis.
This disorder would cause neck pain and irradiation of the pain in the arm and fingers and not only in the thumb.
A pinched nerve can mimic this clinical scenario.
Other causes to take into consideration would be an infection of the soft tissues or the nail and a high blood uric acid.
I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical examination.
A routine blood test, blood electrolytes, plasma levels of uric acid and a nerve conduction study are necessary to exclude the above mentioned diagnoses.
Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings! Dr. Iliri
