What Causes Pain In Thumb When I Bend It?

My thumb recently started to hurt at the joint when I bend it forward or backward. I noticed it a few days ago. Upon waking up my thumb was hurting and was stuck in place. I couldn't move it at first, then i had to force it forward then back. I could hear it, (more like feel it) pop when I moved it. What is this and what can I do about it. Oh, and the thumb on my other hand has the same problem, just not a severe.
Thanks

General & Family Physician Dr. Sudipto De's  Response
One thing I did not notice in your question was your age. Your symptoms are characteristic of specific types of arthritis. Please consult an orthopaedic surgeon or a rheumatologist
