What Causes Pain In Umbilical Area After Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy?
I had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy 3 weeks ago (nov 6). I ve had lots of aches and pain since the surgery but the surgeon told me I was wasting her time when I went for my 2 week follow up. Today I ve started having more severe pain/soreness in the upper left umbilical area. Pain increases when sitting, standing from sitting or moving too much. It does not hurt to press on the area, just with movement. Does this sound like a post op issue or something just in my head? The surgeon has me paranoid that the discomfort is made up so I m hesitant to return to see her or contact her. I will go see my pcp if this discomfort continues. Any advice? Thanks!
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Pain and stretching in the the umbilical are is common after a laparoscopic surgery, because one of the incision on abdomen through which the laparoscope goes inside is umbilicus. It takes a little time to heal. I would suggest you not to worry and let it heal completely in six weeks. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Regards Dr Deepti Verma
