What Causes Pain In Upper Abdomen Radiating To Ribcage?
Yesterday I started having pain in my upper med section of my back, after a 10 minutes or so the pain had gotten worse, went to move and felt a pinch, now the pain is traveling down to the bottom of my rib cage and to the front of my abdomen, I want to know what could it possibly be that s causing me all this pain
The pain starting in the mid back and then travelling to the lower rib case is most probably due to the following reasons: The nerve getting compressed or pinched at the spine due to Prolapsed disc or some disease at the back. Herpes zoster can present in the same way but the skin changes of vesicles or so may take days to manifest. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult a Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and thus get the further investigations like MRI of the mid back spine if required and get a referral to the Specialist so that a proper diagnosis and management can be done. Till then take an an anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties so that the pain is controlled to some extent.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
