What Causes Pain In Upper Breastbone After Skydiving?

I went skydiving today for the first time. 62 year old female otherwise in good health, smoker, wondering if the chest pain I am experiencing is from too tight of a harness during the fall or a heart issue. Pain is located in upper breastbone area. tender when pushed on, maybe a bone bruise?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As you have done sky diving recently, the pain can be associated with tightly positioned harness. Are you on any medication currently?

The symptoms like tender on touch or slight push is likely indicating it as a result of muscle injury or bone injury. As bones tend to weaken with age and slight pressure on it can also lead to fracture. I suggest you visit your doctor and get it checked once. He might suggest an X-ray chest for better understanding of any internal injury if present. Depending on the results as well as physical examination your will be suggested appropriate management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
