What Causes Pain In Upper Chest And Tightness While Breathing?

I went on a long and hard bike ride today and I have some chest pain in the upper portion. When i take a deep breath it gets really tight and hard to breath. I was out walking and felt like i couldn't breath. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this?

Hello
Since you are feeling so excruciating pain , take a tylenol 650 mg at once .
These symptoms may be due to these possibilities , these include>
1Pneumonitis ( pneumonia ) , since you are feeling pain during breathing , hard breathing , long driving, chest pain all are an indication of pneumonitis . Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest.
2 Allergic bronchitis , due to long driving , you may got some allergen and this may have caused bronchoconstriction ,hence these symptoms produced .
3 Strain in muscle , due to long journey .
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion if you don't get relief with tylenol ( as mentioned above ) .
Hot coffee and rest will provide relief after tylenol.
Good luck.
