What Causes Pain In Upper Right Chest After Sneezing?
I m a 55 year old male 5 10 ~201lbs who has been experiencing a sharp pain in my upper right side chest area (feels like it is about 4 inches from the arm pit toward the heart). This pain ONLY occurs immediately after a sneeze. The pain only lasts for 1-2 seconds and its gone until the next sneeze. This started about 6-8 weeks ago. I can t think of anything significant that I might of done to strain anything in that area. Please advise.
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you are having pleurisy ( inflammation of pleura ). Chest pain on coughing, sneezing or deep inhalation is characteristic feature of pleurisy. Causes for pleurisy are 1. Pleural effusion. 2. Pneumonia 3. TB 4. Pneumothorax 5. Pulmonary contusions 6. Rib fracture etc. So get done chest x ray to rule out above mentioned causes. If chest x ray is normal than no need to worry much. It will be only muscular pain. So take good painkiller and muscle relaxant.
