Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had by-pass surgery in 2008. During the last year I have had what appears to be nerve pain on the back side of my knee only about 1 to 2 inches from where they removed the vein. It is not constant but when it starts I found only one creme that seems to relieve the pain a little but not completely. Suggestions? What would be the Doctors specialty be that I should see?
You are having pain in the vein behind the knees. It may be indicative of some kind of injury. The injury that may cause pain behind he knee is torn ligament, cartilage, torn hamstring, sprains and strains, etc.
Popliteal vein thrombosis occurs when a blood clot restricts or blocks blood vessels in the popliteal vein. PVT is a potentially life threatening medical condition that is very serious. PVT requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms of PVT may resemble the symptoms of Baker's cyst. Get checked by a general physician. Your treatment will depend on the pathology diagnosed to be causing the symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
