What Causes Pain On Both Sides Of Rib Cages?

I have been waking up in the middle of the night with a shooting pain on both of my sides close to my rib cages. The only relief I have found is just to get up. I cant stand to lay down when this happens. Its definately not the mattressbc no matter where I sleep I have the same issue.
