What Causes Pain On Right Side Of Face While Chewing Food?

My right side of my face is very tender and sometimes when I drink or chew it hurts really bad. It seems to be right I. Front of my right ear, down to the edge of my face and a little above me eat. Sometimes it doesn't hurt but sometimes it hurts a lot. My doctor checked my glands and ears yesterday but did not seem concerned about this problem. I have a cough, viral, a bit of a sore throat and a little stuffy nose as well. I am on a maintenance dose if hydro orpine and Hydrocodone due to osteoarthritis and lupus so when things bother me it is bad as I have a high tolerance to pain.

Hi dear ,

As per your query you have you have pain on one side of the face while eating . The probable possibilities for the symptoms you mention in query are :-

It could be due to temporomandibular joint problem ( TMJ) which occur due to many reasons like misalignment of teeth , wisdom tooth problem stress and anxiety . But it seems to me that your problem is due to osteoarthritis of temporomandibular joint .

It could be due to sore throat or pharyngitis .

I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order test liek CT scan , X-ray and blood test to confirm the diagnosis and treatment . Doctor may also refer you to orthodontist or ENT specialist .
