What Causes Pain On The Arms While Using Nicotine Patches?

Hi Im 43yrs old trying to give up smoking (15 a day) I went to my doctor and got the nicotine patches. I put one on the left arm at the top a couple of hours later I got a really sharp pain down my left side of my arm to the tip of my middle finger. So the next day I placed it on right side this time I got the pain down my right side of my arm to the tip of the middle finger. I also am getting really dull headaches. Im taking panadole for these but neither of the pain is going away. Is this from the patches and should I continue to use them. Can you please help Im not sure what to do
