I have a pain on top of my foot. No redness . It almost felt like a blister. Its like someone putting a cigarette out on my foot. It woke me up at 3 this morning. Comes and goes every min to 5 mins . Last for two seconds then goes. Never had gout but talking to people I know it seems like its gout. It is not on joint comes and goes . Thanks Jim
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The burning transient/repeated pain you have on top of your foot is neurogenic due to inflammation or irritation (due to stress, trauma)/pressure or pinching of the nerve supplying the affected part.
You can relieve it with rest, cold pack, over the counter anti-inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen &B12 pills.
A thorough physical examination &imaging investigation like MRI would confirm the site( at lumbar spine/hip/or ankle /bone spur or swelling at the site of pain ) & extent of the problem followed by needful management. Please consult an orthopaedic surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
