What Causes Pain On The Left Side Of The Neck?

My daughter has been complaining the last two nights about the left side of her neck hurting.
I thought initially it was from her sleeping on it wrong, but when I asked her if it hurt to turn her head that way, she said "no". It didn't bother her today at all. She was sitting in a lounge chair watching tv and got up around 8PM and said it was hurting again.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Neck pain could be due to cervical muscle spasm. I would suggest to consult the orthopedics and undergo examination. Doctor will give following advises:

- Tablet Etoricoxib + Thiocolchicoside
- Tablet Ranitidine
- Application of Diclofenac (Volini) gel
- Warm pad application

Isometric neck exercise according to physiotherapist will helpful (after relieving pain).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards,
Dr. Sagar
