What Causes Pain Radiating From Lower Back To The Back Of Legs?

The last few nights when ive gone to bed ive been really uncomfortable with pain radiating down from my lower back to the back of my legs & knees. I have been feeling nauseaus all day with a really scratchy throat. Could this just be due to a kidney infection or possibly getting a dose of the flu?
